What are the properties of calendula?

Calendula, also known as marigold (Calendula officinalis), is a traditional ingredient in skin care, especially for the care of stressed and sensitive skin. It is rich in important ingredients such as carotenoids, which promote wound healing and give calendula its characteristic color.

What effect does calendula have?

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory effect, calendula is particularly effective for very dry, stressed and cracked skin. This anti-inflammatory effect is based, among other things, on the flavonoids it contains, which not only have an anti-inflammatory effect but also give calendula its typical yellow color. The lipids it contains also support the skin barrier. Calendula has a soothing effect on tight skin and itching due to dryness.

How is calendula extracted?

Calendula extract is obtained from the flowers of the marigold. These are usually harvested by hand and soaked in a glycerine or oil solvent in order to extract the active ingredients as gently as possible. The calendula extract in my Calendula range is obtained in a mixture of water and glycerine.

Is calendula questionable?

Calendula is gentle on the skin and is often used in products for sensitive, dry or irritated skin. It is used in many skin care products for babies and sensitive skin, underlining its safety and effectiveness.
