 Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

The name of this well-known medicinal plant comes from the Arabic. The term "alloeh" essentially means shiny and bitter. It is already clear from its appearance that it is a cactus plant.

 Aloe Vera

The aloe vera plant mainly grows in hot, dry areas of the world and is known for being able to store large quantities of water. It is assumed that it originated in the Arabian Peninsula. Nowadays, they grow everywhere where the climate is suitable for a desert plant. This includes India, Mexico and the Mediterranean. Aloe vera has long been considered a medicinal plant all over the world. In Ancient Egypt, it was even deemed the plant of immortality, as the juice was said to promote health and beauty.

Aloe vera juice as well as its refreshing gel are used in herbal medicine. Both are extracted from the plant in a variety of ways. The natural gel from inside the watery leaves is used mainly in skin care products. Extremely dry skin, for example, can benefit from it as the refreshing gel has moisturising properties. Furthermore, it can alleviate irritation, inhibit inflammation and soothe burns and sunburn. The juice from this medicinal plant, on the other hand, is mainly used internally. It is said to strengthen the immune system and support the body's defences.
